Have you worked on your business’ text messaging strategy yet?

A hidden gem in the marketing world that most companies have yet to capitalize on, meaning you can be the first, giving you a huge advantage over competitors.

Competitive in the digital space with text messaging

Text messaging for marketing has been around for a while, but it hasn’t caught on, that is until recently. Businesses have finally realized that they can market to a person with the most personal device customers own and the most personal form of communication between people now.

Still, it is not a marketing technique used by everyone, and even those who use text messaging may not be using it to its full capacity. It helps you get personal with your customers and helps them easily communicate with you.

Why does it matter?

According to Marketing Land, text messaging is the most important form of marketing because it is the only way you are pushing to communicate with your customer instead of them having to focus on communicating with you. Most of the time, your customer has to go to your website, click on a link to your website, browse your website, or somehow look for you online.

That means the only way you are going to communicate with customers is if they intentionally look for you. However, if you are using text messaging for your marketing technique, you are the one reaching out to your customers. You are bringing your business to their minds even when they aren’t thinking about it already or currently looking for you.

Incentivize your customers

Most of the time, people do things because they are incentivized and not because they just want to do it. You go shopping because it makes you feel good to wear new clothes or you’ll get that promotion if you dress up a bit. You go get food because your body needs to eat. You go see friends because you crave relationships.

Your business needs to work on creating incentives for your customers. If they get extra promotions or special discounts, they’re much more likely to sign up for your texting service. For example, you could offer a free drink with initial sign up. Then, you should offer your services only to those customers who are already signed up for text messaging services. Offer an extra 5% discount on top of current promotions or give them a discount only for members of the “special club.”

This is just one way to make sure your customers, especially those signed up for texting programs, feel special and like you value them as customers. It should help bring in more  business and make other people feel like they are missing out. Then those people will sign up for texting alerts. It is a win-win situation for everyone.
