Let’s face it. Everyone these days has the internet at their fingertips and are pretty much always connected. If they aren’t on the computer working, they are on their smartphones, and if they aren’t on their smartphones, they are probably streaming a movie or playing an online video game. Whatever the case, your customers are online all day long, which means you are missing a huge marketing opportunity if you haven’t started focusing heavily on online and text marketing. Here are some ways you can create a more successful online marketing campaign.

Create strong content

When people first started realizing they could affect their search engine results in Google, they did what they could to show up as number one. One of the things they realized was that content, in and of itself, meant they got ranked higher than other businesses. This led to a lot of misinformation being posted on the internet as businesses desperately tried to post as much information as possible. However, Google has changed its algorithm, and now it is more important to have quality content than it is to have a lot of it. This is especially important for small businesses.

If a customer comes to your website or your Facebook page and finds stuff they can’t read or understand or that doesn’t make sense, they will move on to something else. But if they read something they find valuable, it will likely keep them interested in your company and could potentially turn them into customers. The ultimate goal of content marketing is to get more customers, so you need to have content that interests them and is valuable to them.

Social media

A small business may have a hard time getting customers at first or at least getting a following on social media. Most people don’t like to follow businesses in social media unless they feel like it provides them some sort of value. Make sure all social media posts are relevant and offer something to the customer that they want or need. While working to gain your following, set small goals and celebrate when they are reached. First, try to get 100 followers. One sites such as Twitter, you can easily get a lot of followers by following people and hoping to get some of them to follow you back. Then, as you tweet relevant information, you will get more people following your tweets. The bigger the number of people who follow you, the more likely you will be to convert them into customers.

Update your website

More than likely, you have a website, but when was the last time you updated it? Website styles five years ago are not as modern as your customers expect it to be, and the transparency expected on websites now is much different than it used to be. Considering most of your customers will go straight to your website to research it, and when you use text marketing, usually you send a link to your website, it is important that it is up to date and has relevant information.
