Though it hasn’t been officially announced, Instagram users have been reporting that a “switch accounts” feature has started showing up on their apps allowing them to stay signed in to multiple accounts at once. A lot of people don’t understand why a person might want access to using multiple accounts at a time, but there are many applications for people, especially for those in charge of marketing for their business.
Applications for young users
The ability to switch between accounts means it will be easier for young people to hold multiple accounts, one of which they use to post real pictures of their lives and one they use as a public profile that they only post perfectly posed pictures. According to Tech Crunch, the fake account that is used to post more realistic pictures of their lives is called a “finsta” account. It is a very popular trend, especially among young people who are looking to gain a public following and don’t want to post anything that isn’t perfect to their Instagram account.
Marketers hit gold
If you are responsible for marketing at your company, then you are likely using your smartphone for your own personal account as well as the company account. If you have to constantly log in and out of accounts, then you aren’t going to use Instagram as heavily as you might use other social media platforms. Instagram is actually making a pretty smart move to get users more active on the social media platform because the flexibility will bring in more users or at least allow users to use the accounts more easily.
Marketing on Instagram is going to be a lot easier when all you have to do is press a button to switch from your personal to business to get some work done. It also is easier when you see something that might be worth posting on your business account. Instead of having to figure out how to upload it online or log out of your personal, you can just snap a picture and switch to your company Instagram to post the photo.
Of course, this hasn’t been officially announced yet and it may take a while before it passes the beta phase, but once it has been released on all operating systems, it will make mobile marketing much easier.
